Words from the Owner
My journey to founding Advantage Tools has been an incredible adventure, fueled by my passion for off-road racing. Growing up in the Mojave Desert of California, my love for off-road racing ignited at a young age as I watched desert trucks pound through the terrain. That passion has shaped the course of my life ever since.
As soon as I could, I moved to San Diego—the epicenter of desert racing—to pursue a degree in engineering, determined to break into and make my mark in the racing world. Early in my college career, I landed a job with McMillin Racing. Over the years, I worked my way up from sweeping floors to serving as crew chief and head of race car development, all while completing my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from SDSU.
Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to learn from some of the best and brightest in racing. In recent years, I’ve had the honor of leading the team to multiple season points championships and three consecutive Baja 1000 Overall Championships. These achievements have exceeded my wildest expectations, prompting me to ask myself, Where do I go from here?
The answer? Advantage Tools.
While I plan to stay involved with McMillin Racing—probably forever—I’m excited to embark on a new stage in my life, sharing my ideas and developing a unique line of professional tools with Advantage Tools. Throughout my journey, I’ve always relished the challenge of developing innovative solutions to complex problems. For years, 90% of my energy was dedicated to race car innovations, but I found immense satisfaction in the remaining 10%—creating tools and processes that made mechanics’ lives easier.
With Advantage Tools, I’m flipping that ratio. Now, I’m bringing that race-winning design mentality to create some of the best tools in the world.
